38 coaches aged between 20 and 55
years devoted one week of their time to this course. They came from Austria (3), Belgium (2), Croatia (2), Czech Republic (3), Estonia (2), Finland (2), Greece (2), Ireland (1), Italy (3), Portugal (2), Spain (1) Sweden (11), Switzerland (2) and Turkey (2). All had in common to train individual gymnasts or groups in
rhythmic gymnastics. Many of them had already participated in the first
courses organized in Athens (2001) and Bremen (2003).
Six experts were invited by the Technical Committee Rhythmic Gymnastics for
sharing, during several lessons, their knowledge and competence in a very
specific field. Six Swedish gymnasts and in particular the quintuple
Russian junior champion, Tatjana Gorbunova, assisted the teachers with their
practical classes.
The five sessions daily of 90 minutes, theory and practice alternating,
included very often video images in order to better illustrate the
explanations of the experts. This year, the TC had invited several
interpreters in order to ensure a translation of all classes and
conferences in French, German, English and Russian. This effort was
particularly appreciated by the participants who received a complete file
with all the texts presented by the experts.
The topics presented in Lillsved were:
- Methodology and preparation of group exercises (Emanuela Maccarani, ITA)
- Preparation of exercises: choreographic and artistic contents
- The importance of choosing the adequate music (Daniela Della Chiaie, ITA)
- Planning of training for high-level gymnasts (Athanasia Charana, GRE)
- Art of expressive movements, methods for learning corporal expression
(Vadim Sosula, RUS, with Tatjana Gorbunova)
- Study of specific difficulty elements , trauma and prevention (Larissa
Lebedeva, RUS)
- Physical preparation – the tasks and responsibilities of a coach (Mauro
Gatti)
Several video sequences underlined the incredible evolution of RG in the
last 10 years, in particular since the Atlanta Olympic Games. The duration
of the exercise of individual gymnasts has not changed (1’30), but the
number of elements to be presented has doubled. Very often one does not
give enough importance to the music of an exercise. However, the intensive
training of the gymnasts must absolutely include exercises to recover, in sufficient
quality and quantity; thus the judicious recommendations and practical
suggestions, underlined by demonstrations, which were very appreciated by
the participants.
The training centre of the Swedish Gymnastics Federation is on the
peninsula Lillsved, some 60 km from Stockholm. A very
idyllic place, located close to a fjord, far from the noisy civilisation.
Some buildings, including a beautiful manor, with a gym, rooms for theory,
fitness, sauna etc. are established in a vast territory which extends
between forests and the sea.
An ideal place to recover after the intensive programme of the day. All
participants have appreciated the perfect organization of Thomas Widlund,
Margret Sikkens Ahlquist and Lisbeth Göthberg.
The course ended with the presentation of the diplomas and an international
evening, where friendship and conviviality were celebrated in an
extraordinary atmosphere.
For Heide Bruneder, President TC-RG, this camp was very successful and was
the answer to a necessity. She underlined the quality of the experts. If
there were less participants than in 1993, she
believes that this is due to the date (right after the ECh Moscow) but also
due to the fact that the federations are not yet quite used to the UEG
Intranet system, where the invitation was published. A questionnaire, which
was answered by all participants, will determine the planning and contents
of the future courses.
